Armenian period
Al. Spendiaryan died on May 7, 1828, leaving many creative projects unfinished. By Al. Tamanyan's suggestion the composer was buried in the garden near the Opera House. The composer could not see his "Almast" on the stage. Only after two years from the composer's death the premiere of the opera took place in Moscow. Then on June 20, 1933 "Almast "opera was the first performance played during the opening ceremony of State Opera House in Armenia, which has been named after Alexander Spendiaryan since 1939. The first musical school in Yerevan and one of the central streets of Yerevan were also named after the great composer.
