
REMARKABLE • On October 2, 1926 Alexander Spendiaryan was awarded the title of the People's Artist. • On October 2, 1926 by the decision № 513 of the People's Commissariat of Education of ASSR lecturer of conservatoire Alexander Spendiaryan was awarded the title of professor. • In 1930 the first musical school in Yerevan was named after Alexander Spendiaryan. In 1971 the new building of the school was opened on Khanjyan street. The marble bust of Alexander Spendiaryan (sculptor Ghukas Chubaryan) was situated in front of the school. • On January 20, 1933 Armenian State Opera Theatre was opened with the premiere of Spendiaryan's "Almast" opera. • In 1939 The State Theatre of Opera and Ballet was named after Spendiaryan. • In 1957 Spendiaryan's monument (sculptor Ara Sargsyan) was situated in front of Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. • On November 21, 1963 by decision № 491 of the president of Council of Ministers Anton Kochinyan Alexander Spendiaryan house museum was founded; it is the first museum in Armenia dedicated to a musician. • On November 25th, 1967 The Memorial Museum of Alexander Spendiaryan was opened to the public. • One of the central streets of Yerevan, Moscowyan passage, was renamed after Alexander Spendiaryan. |
