Dedictation to the 150th birth anniversary of Spendiaryan
On November 1, 2021 marked the 150th birth anniversary of the great Armenian composer, conductor, multiple musical and public figure – Alexander Spendiaryan. The Jubilee was celebrated by the initiation of three cultural institutions named after him - Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, House-museum and Special Music School. Cultural figures and music lovers of different generations left flowers at the grave of the composer in the yard of the theatre. The Armenian State Dance Ensemble (art director – Suren Chanchuryan) represented a dance flesh mob – Spendiaryan’s famous “Enzeli”.
The second part of the event was held in the Grand foyer of the Opera Theatre. The Central Bank of Armenia presented commemorative coin dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of the great classical composer to the Spendiaryan House-museum. During the concert part the soloists of the theatre performed romances of A. Spendiaryan, N. Rimski-Korsakov and S. Rachmaninov, and arias from Rimski-Korsakov’s opera “The Snow Maiden” and Spendiaryan’s opera “Almast” as well.
