The Memorial Day of Alexander Spendiaryan marked with the rose planting and a unique concert program as well.
On May 11, on the occasion of the Memorial Day of the great Armenian composer Alexander Spendiaryan, many artists and the funs of Alexander Spendiaryan music laid flowers at composer’s grave. The director of Alexander Spendiaryan house-museum Marine Otaryan, reminded to journalists that on May 7, 1928 when Alexander Spendiaryan died, by the suggestion of composer’s friend Alexander Tamanyan decided to bury Spendiaryan’s body in the garden of the People’s House that should be built, which later became the opera and ballet house. The National Orchestra performed a little part from the Spendiaryan composition in the yard Opera and ballet theatre. It is said that “Tamanyan took care of the flowers himself and always tried to keep them fresh. We decided to restore that tradition with the help of intelligentsia, society and to plant roses at the grave of the composer” said Marine Otaryan. The rose planting took participation Tigran Mansurian, opera singer Hasmik Papyan, Armen Budaghyan and many famous people. The event took place under control of Ministry of Culture with the Alexander Spendiaryan House-museum.
